Emma graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Business from Edith Cowan University. She then obtained her postgraduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Australian National University. Emma was admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in February 2019.
While finalising her studies, Emma worked in the not-for-profit sector in Family Dispute Resolution, conducting intakes and assessments in parenting and property matters. Emma went on to become a Team Leader of the FDR program, assisting to case manage and co-facilitate mediations. Emma also became a Child Consultant in this time and facilitated the child inclusive practice, allowing for the voice of the children to be heard and taken into consideration during negotiations.
Emma’s previous line of work was in social services and involved supporting people at risk of homelessness, people in need of advocacy with the Department of Communities and by providing access to other services such as Counselling, Children’s Counselling and support for victims of Domestic Violence. Working in social work allowed Emma to develop a humanistic, non-judgemental and impartial approach to her work.
Emma is particularly passionate about assisting those who are vulnerable and in need of support with complex issues. Emma also derives a lot of motivation from working with children and assisting families with overcoming the challenges of co-parenting post-separation.
Outside of practice Emma has a keen interest in fitness, travelling and volunteering at animal rescue facilities in her spare time.
