HISTORY

The firm of Butlers had its origins in John Butler's decision to leave the firm of Freehill Hollingdale & Page, in which he was then a partner, on 30 June 1987.

On 1 July 1987 John opened his own offices at 126 Broadway Nedlands, trading as John Butler & Associates.  A year later, Stephen Crooks joined John in partnership, and the firm changed its name to John Butler & Stephen Crooks.  This firm opened its first country office in Busselton in April 1992 and subsequently opened a second country office in Mandurah in 1993.  In August 1992 the firm of John Butler & Stephen Crooks moved from its offices at 126 Broadway Nedlands, to new offices in Thelma Street West Perth.  John decided that he wanted to change direction and left the firm of John Butler & Stephen Crooks, on 31 December 1993.

On 1 January 1994, John opened his own new firm at 47-49 Stirling Highway Nedlands, trading as John Butler.  Over the next few years John opened a number of country offices, including offices in Albany, Bunbury, Collie and Geraldton.

This firm subsequently changed its name to "Butlers", and later moved to its present offices at 83-85 Stirling Highway Nedlands on 15 January 1999.  The firm closed the last of its full time country offices at the end of September 1999 so that John Butler and our other Lawyers could concentrate their time in our Nedlands offices.

In May 2008, Butlers opened a second office at 3/18 Parry Street in Fremantle, and enjoys servicing this rapidly growing office.

John Butler and other Lawyers with the firm have continued to visit Bunbury, and to provide service to our country clients.  John normally visits Bunbury at least once each month.
